Obama Steps to the Line

Yesterday, Senator Barack Obama announced that he was stepping up to the line of potential Presidential candidates by submitting the paperwork to establish the Obama Exploratory Committee, which will work toward his 2008 campaign candidacy.

The announcement came on the Barack Obama website in both video and text format. An interesting candidate with an even more interesting background, Obama vows to bring "a different kind of politics" to Washington if he is elected. This is exactly what many American's will be looking for in the 2008 Presidential Election.

What do you understand for "a different kind of politics" in the USA? What do you want?

Thanks for posting your question, Juani.

The current politics in the US is just as it is commonly labeled: right or left. And America is not working together as a whole. Politics is driving a wedge between Americans, who are forced to choose ideological sides.

As Barack Obama says in his book, The Audacity of Hope, Americans are "reduced to a menu of either-or, for-or-against". He points out that politicians are "for either tax cuts or tax hikes, small government or big government" and there is no middle ground on any issue that faces our country.

He is correct when he offers that Americans "are waiting for a politics with the maturity to balance idealsism and realism." That's the different kind of politics that I want to see.
